The wise ones have talked about love. Moving mountains. Expanding exponentially, when rising from a multitude of hearts simultaneously. Pointing to how love can be palpable in the month of December, the time of year when people around the world eagerly open their hearts, giving and receiving, in effect — love — inspired by the many celebrations of the season.

Imagine if, the wise ones have said, we were to keep our hearts open all year round. If, from moment to moment, we were to live from the heart in the day to day. To simply “put out good vibes” whenever we could. Inspired by compassion. At home, at work. Standing in line at the store. Passing a stranger on the street. With clear intentions and a full heart. A few moments of our time.

Imagine, they have said, if compassion flowed freely by a growing number of people around the world, in more and more moments of time, over time, building momentum, reaching critical mass, leading to an ever greater abundance of light. Love overcomes darkness.

But beware of simultaneously “putting out bad vibes,” they have cautioned. Anger, hatred. This isn’t easy to do. It’s our nature to be be outraged by the suffering of others. Though the love of a few is more powerful than that of a hundred without, putting out bad vibes by many all at once can override the power of the good vibes, is the message. Those who incite our anger and hatred know this, know its power, and use it to keep us bound in darkness, which diminishes our light.

If you haven’t already done so, and if you can find it in your heart, please consider being inspired by the words of the wise ones. Others may be inspired by you and follow.

Sending prayers, love, and compassion to the people of the Ukraine.
